Our longstanding passion for Grenache and its favourable growing conditions in the maritime climate of McLaren Vale, inspired our ambition to produce a vibrant dry rosé perfectly suited to accompany lighter cuisine and enormously refreshing during the warmer months of the year.
Vintage 2018 began with good winter and early spring rainfall preparing the vines for the summer ahead. In late spring the weather began to warm up and flowering conditions were moderate but later than most years. Soils are red/grey sandy loam over complex Geology comprising quartz and ironstone gravels and calcareous sandstone. 13.66 tonnes of Grenache grapes were hand harvested on the 2nd, 10th and the 19th of March.
The Grenache fruit for this release was hand-picked and given a short period of skin contact before crushing, de-stemming and lightly pressed using our 1928 basket press. The juice was then fermented at cool temperatures to maximise freshness and retain delicate flavours.
Our rosé exhibits vibrant berry fruit, a touch of spice, along with texture and is supported by crunchy acidity leading to a thirst-quenching dry finish.
