The first release of a Basket Pressed Cabernet Merlot blend from Kays Amery winery. The grapes were harvested in March 2007 from our Amery Vineyard Block 22 and traditionally processed utilising open fermentation and basket pressing. The finished wine (56% Cabernet Sauvignon and 44% Merlot) was matured in American oak barrels for 2 years prior to bottling under Stelvin closures on the 15th July 2009.

Colour: Bright ruby red.
Nose: Ripe cassis, blackberry and morello cherry fruit notes with underlying vanilla bean American oak.
Palate: Full bodied ripe fruit characters show on the front to middle palate leading to firm dusty tannins and finishing with lingering flavours of morello cherry, plums, cassis and blackberry. While ideal to enjoy now this delightful Basket Pressed Cabernet Merlot will benefit from further bottle age. 14% alc/vol.
